RIP: JIM WATTS - I worked for Jim and he was an awesome man. He did a lot for his employees, that no other boss that I have ever had has done for me. He went above and beyond for his employees. He helped me out a lot when I was going through some things, He taught me a lot. Jim you will be miss. I wish I would have had the chance to come and see you one last time. There was something that I needed to say to you. Thank you for being there for me. You will be greatly missed
R.I.P. Jim Watts - I was recently looking for Jim as we have worked together on other projects in the past and I learned from his phone answering service that he passed away nearly two weeks ago. He was a very kind, loving, and straightforward man who loved to tell stories. He will be missed.
Almaden Welding did my driveway gate a few years before I bought my house. It has held up wonderfully over the years and looks great. After finding that out I had them make a gate and fence around my basement stairs. Jim is an old guy who does things the old school way. He will show up smoking a cigar or with one ready in his pocket. He took all my info down on a plain piece of paper. If you are looking for someone to email or text you go somewhere else. If you want quality craftsmanship from someone who has been doing it for decades give them a call. The new gate and fence came out perfect and my wife was very happy. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for any iron or steel work.
Had my stair and landing rails refurbished by Almaden Welding. Very nice job!
Several years ago Almaden Welding and Ornamental Wrought Iron, did fencing for my grandmother and it came out excellent. I saw the work they did and it was awesome. I have first hand knowledge on how good this companies work is. As a former employee of almaden welding, I have see a lot of the work they have done and what it takes for them to get their work exactly the way it is supposed to be for the customers, If something is not right, I know for a fact that Jim Watts will go out to the customers house and make sure it is exactly the way it is supposed to be done. Keep up the good work for many years to come.
My husband often said of our house: "It's beautiful, but it's missing the finishing pieces." I didn't quite understand what he meant by that, but I did know our home was lacking an essential ingredient: railings for the front porch. A lot of our visitors are (is it polite to say?) "old and broken", so the lack of railings was a serious concern for everyone's safety and well-being.
But adding a railing to the front porch is no simple thing. Most importantly, and with all the endless possibilities, the design is the most difficult thing on which to decide. "Packaging is everything!" Then add in the complexity factor of my need to have symbolism and meaning weaved into everything we do to/for the house. Many drawings later, we finally solidify the design pattern that will be featured on the railings and other planned elements throughout the house.
The only question was whom to select to execute the vision. I called several places and settled on Almaden Welding. They understood my short- and long-term goals. They patiently worked with me to get the curves and bends "just right" here at the house. A week later we were called to the shop to see the vision take place and tweak the design "just so". I was fascinated by the whole process and very much appreciated the complexity of balance between the design and the structural concerns.
One more week after that, I pulled into the driveway to see the most beautiful set of railings at our front porch. They looked so natural, like they had been there all along!
Now I understand what my husband meant. about the finishing touches. Thanks to Almaden Welding, one of those pieces is in place, adding beauty and functionality to the home.
A friend recently commented on the railings: "It's like the beautifully dressed girl now has lovely, long eyelashes drawing you towards her." Very nice.
You guys did a great job! Thanks so much!!!!
We will be back for more!
Almaden Welding put the metal pool fences up at work at least a decade or more years ago. The work was excellent and held up as well as it could since we didn't keep up with the paint.
We recently replaced the doors to keep in line with some recommendations from the fire marshal. Jim Watts from Almaden Welding put in a reasonable bid and made us two shiny new fence doors with the appropriate locking mechanisms. He even included a copy of the fire codes in case the fire marshal decided to change his mind again. It was a good thing too because the fire marshal was leaning in that direction until I pulled out the codes.
Metalwork isn't cheap but Jim sure knows his stuff.
